Efficacy of three herbicides (Stomp330E at 3.7 litre per hectare, Fusilade 25EC at 3.7 litre per hectare and Gramoxone 20EC at 1.5 litre per hectare) and different cultural operations was tested for weed control and grain yield during "GU" (April-June) and "DER" (October-December) seasons, 1989. Stomp330E was applied at pre-emergence while herbicides were sprayed after planting. Results showed that all herbicides and hand-weeding had significant effect on weed control. Maximum weed control was noted in Stomp (86.04%), hand-weeding (84.97%) and Gramoxone (81.34%) treated plots. Stomp330E treated plot gave significantly higher grain yield (66.01%) than control (3.06 t/ha). Stomp-330E was found effective for weed control and increased grain yield without phytotoxic effect on crop.
