Rapeseed glucosinolates - effect on fodder intake, performance and productivity of animals and quality of animal products

A conclusion was drawn that in spite of radical reduction of glucosinolates (GLS) content in improved rapeseed cultivars to 10-12 microM/g this group of compounds remains an important nutritional component in feeding monogastrics. The presence of those compounds may limit fodder use of rapeseeds and press-cake obtained by cold oil pressing. In the case of cultivars of very low GLS content (below 5 microM/g) other components, mainly high content of fibre and phenolics, limit the use of rapeseeds, press-cake and post-extraction meal in the food rations of intensively fed animals
