Trace elements in leafy vegetables and fruits from allotment gardens of Warszawa-Mokotow District

Content of trace elements (Fe, Mn, Zn, Cu, Pb, Cd) was examined in leafy vegetables and fruits cultivated in 16 allotment gardens situated within the Warszawa-Mokotow District. It was found that such vegetables as chard, lettuce, parsley, curled dock and sorrel sampled in locations close to busy roads contain more Pb, Cd and Zn than those collected in gardens at the outskirts of the District. In fruits such as cherry, gooseberry and red currant, only trace amounts of Pb and Cd were discovered
