Jezewska, M. (Instytut Ochrony Roslin, Poznan (Poland))
Two principal cereal viruses transmitted by the fungus Polymyxa graminis were described: barley yellow mosaic baymovirus (BaYMV) and wheat soil-borne mosaic furovirus (WSBMV). The Baymovirus which infects only barley plants is widely distributed in Western Europe countries but so far it was not found in Poland. The second virus (WSBMV) a serious pathogen of all main cereal species is wide spread in America, Asia and Europe. It was identified in Poland in the year of 1992. This virus was found also in the region of Wielkopolska in 1993 by means of ELISA test
