Age structure of Juncus balticus Willd. coenopopulations and changes in individual's character during primary succession

Development dynamics of natural coenopopulations of perennial psammophyte Juncus balticus were investigated at the consecutive stages of primary succession of the vegetation on wet deflation slacks in a system of coastal moving dunes on the southern seashore of the Baltic. There the succession proceeds from the initial psammphilous phytocoenoses through wet heath to pine forest. The results are presented in two papers. The present paper deals with the coenopopulations age structure, as well as with an analysis of variation of selected morphological characters of the subterranean and overground organs of J. balticus, as a function of population age
