Female sterility of F3 and F4 plants of the hybrid L. varius X digitatus is caused by irregularities in the formation of sporogenic calls and female gametophyte. Advanced sterilization in ontogenesis of female reproduction cells suggests that female sterility in the studied segregants is determined by a set of closely linked genes inherited monomerically
