Tafta, V.N. (Facultatea de Zootehnie, Bucuresti (Romania))
It was studied the possibility of creating a new type of sheep with fine wool, adapted to the mountain and pre-mountain geoclimatic conditions with mean rainfalls of more than 650-700 mm per year. The new type of sheep has been formed by the upgrading crossing of Palas Merino with Tigaie of Covasna sheep resulting 7 series of crosses F1 and F2 which were mated among them; in the variants F2 x F2 and F2 x F1 Ile de France rams were used to intensify the traits for meat production. The study presents the morpho-productive peculiarities of the newly created population of the Merino type sheep, taking into evidence its superiority towards the Tigaia breed raised in the respective area.
