Egyptian goose (Alopochen aegyptiacus) shot in northern Dobrogea
1994
Kiss, J.B.
An adult sample of Egyptian goose, belonging to a flock of 6 birds, which landed near a flock of domestic geese, was shot on 21 September 1990, near Somova village, Tulcea. It is supposed that these Egyptian geese derive from captive populations living in some West European countries since 18th century. Till now, the presence of these species in Down Danube area was proved only in the book of Aloysia F. Marsigli, in 1726. The sample caught in Somova is the first obvious proof of this species appearance in Down Danube wildlife areas.
