The effect of acid rain on the photosynthetic apparatus of pea seedlings was investigated. An increase in the chlorophyll a and b content and in the Chl a/b ratio in necrous-unaffected parts of leaves was found. An approximately 20-percent decrease in the amounts of reaction centers in the two photosystems and in photochemical activity was seen in isolated chloroplasts
