Relationship between the phytoplankton and zooplankton abundance in a gravel-pit lake at Senec (W Slovakia) in 1986-1990

The developmeny of zooplankton in the Senec gravel-pit lake and its relationship on the water quality affected by biomanipulation were investigated over a 5 year vegetational period. Particular attention was given to the dependence of the zooplankton development on the phytoplankton abundance. The occurrence of Protozoa was found to be controlled also by the qualitative composition of phytoplankton. In 1989-1990, 30 taxa from the groups of Rotatoria, Anomopoda and Copepoda were identified.
