Prospects for improvement in energy use on small scale farming: the case of animal traction

The strengths and weaknesses of animal traction as used in Swaziland are analysed. A description is also given of new type of harness to be used on bullocks and the results of field trials with this type of equipment are given. The design is said to give improved handling and control as well as working speed.
