1991
Usa Kosittrakun
Technologies most needed to produce pummelo for export in order of degree of requirement by the members were disease control, prevention of flower and fruit drop and insect pest control. Intermediately needed were those related to soil management, flowering stimulation and fertilizer application whereas those less required were pruning, irrigation, harvesting, storage, cultivars and planting materials, soil preparation, grading and sizing, weed control and fruit bagging. Total technological needs were positively correlated with planting areas and the number of pummelo trees per rai. The variable having the highest correlation with income obtained from growing pummelo was the number of pummelo tree per rai. Production problems involved spread of diseases and insect pests while marketing problems included uncertainty of price and markets for pummelo produced in each year.
