Effect of DNOC on flushing of terminal bud of mango (Mangifera indica L.) cvs. "Khiew Sawoey" and "Nam Dokmai Tawai"

DNOC was applied as a folair spray at a rate of 0, 0.06, 0.08, 0.10, 0.12 and 0.14 % to mature leaves of 7-year old "Khiew Sawoey" mango trees in July 1989. The treated trees flushed new shoots within 2-3 weeks. The flushing percentages were 45.00, 47.50, 45.00, 48.75, 75.00 and 100, respectively. DNOC at 0.28 % in combination with various adjuvants was applied in December 1989 in the same manner to 7-year old, "Nam Dokmai Tawai" mango trees. DOC+NEOWET (NO50500) was the most effective in inducing flushing within 3-7 days with the least damage to the treated leaves. Both DNOC+N terginol and DNOC+NEOWET (NO50300) were also effective in inducing flushing (100 and 77.78 %) but severely damaged treated leaves. DNOC alone was not significant in inducing flushing compared to non-treated trees and the percentage of dropped leaf was only 5 %.
