Effects of different rates of organic and phosphate fertilizers on yield and nutrient content of Chinese cabbage

Duck manure application (1,600 kg/rai) tended to increase fresh weight especially head weight than control. Phosphate fertilizer application at the rate of 8 kg P2O5/rai significantly increased fresh weight and head weight of Chinese cabbage but no marked differences among other treatment were observed. Regardless of phosphate fertilizer application rates, triple superphosphate or the mixture of 60 % TSP+40 % RP application resulted in marked increase of fresh shoot weight than other combinations. There was no remarkable response of total fresh weight and head fresh weight of vegetable on castor meal and phosphate fertilizer applications. The similar result on total fresh weight was also noted when different rates of TSP and RP were applied. On the other hand, some combinations of TSP+RP markedly increased the head fresh weight. There was no significant difference among the effects of duck manure, castor meal and activated sludge on total fresh weight and head fresh weight of Chinese cabbage. Urea application remarkable influenced the vegetable fresh weight and the greatest yield was obtained from 4-12 kgN/rai treatments. Duck manure and castor meal applications markedly increased the total and outer leaves dried weight while activated sludge treatment promoted the accumulation of head dried weigh. 8-12 kgN/rai of urea treatment significantly improved head and outer leaves dried weight.
