Yield and quality improvement of forage sorghum (Sorghum bicolor (L.) Moench.)

The result revealed that F5 (M.038/KU.512-2) and F5 (M.097//KU.439/M.070)-1 gave the highest forage yield of 13,680 and 10,501 kilograms per rai of fresh weight, respectively. Both varieties showed better seedling vigor and lower in leaf diseases. Their panicles were intermediate type. They contained a high feeding quality such as protein, phosphorus, NDS, ADF and NDF were 13.38, 0.70, 39.08, 36.09 and 60.93 percent of dry weight. Hydrocyanic acid content, those top two varieties had only 0.41 and 0.47 milligram which is no toxic to animal.
