Average butter fat percentages until wk-20 were 4.14+-0.39a 3.69+-0.47b and 4.31+-0.30a in group 1,2 and 3 respectively (P0.01). During suckling period the butter fat percentages of suckled cows (group 1 and 2) were significantly lower (P0.01) than those of non-suckled cows but became normal again after weaning. They were 3.49+-0.53a, 3.16+-0.68a and 4.32+-0.38b (P0.01) during wks 0-8, 4.29+-0.61a, 3.32+-0.86b and 4.15+-0.34a (P0.01) during wks 9-12 and 4.73+-0.51, 4.40+-0.34 and 4.35+-0.44 (P0.05) during wks 13-12 for group 1, 2 and 3 respectively. Fertility criterion in terms of the days from parturition to first service or to conception as well as number of inseminations per successful service were not statistically different between suckled and non-suckled cows.
