Sperm penetration ability as a test of the bull fertility

The bull fertile capabilities play an important role in the artificial cattle insemination programme. It seems that the bull fertile ability is individual characteristic, genetically determinated. The results of research show that the bull sperm penetration is positively correlated (p 0.01) to the conception rates of the inseminated cows. According to the sperm penetration, the bulls could be classified into three groups: a) the bulls with good sperm penetration (+), b) the bulls with very good sperm penetration (++), and c) the bulls with excelent sperm penetration (+++). In vitro sperm penetration test could be the reliable method for the evaluation of the bull sperm quality.
