The influence of plant density on the occurrence of cob deficient corn plants

Three-year trials were conducted to study the influence of six different plant densities on the occurrence of cob deficient corn plants under the agroecological conditions of southern Banat, Serbia (Yugoslavia). A significant positive correlation was registered between the plant populations (40,000 - 90,000 plants per hectare) analyzed and the number of cob deficient plants. On average, the correlation coefficient for the three-year trials was r=0.99. Furthermore, for the plant densities studied, the least number of cob dificient corn plants (3.76) was registered in 1989. On the other hand, the greatest number of cob deficient plants was noted in 1990
