Increasing attention is currently being paied at home and abroad to acid rain and its influence on the pedosphere and the environment. Acid rain or athmospheric precipitation - rain, snow, ice, and hoar-frost - with pH value from 4.5 to 5.6 on reaching the soil exerts negative influence on the flow of a series of pedogenetic processes and indirectly on fertility of the soil. In the present study the authors give a short survey of the sources of acid rain and discuss the formation of acids of acid rain and its influence on soil fertility.
