Zaire has enormous agricultural potentialities thanks to its large surface and its climatic conditions which make Zairian climate the synthesis of the climates of the tropical world. For more than twenty years, this country has lived serious economic problems and the present food production does not satisfy the internal demand any more. This study aims to make statistical analysis using regression models by comparing the recent agricultural situation with the situation before Zaire obtained its independence. The variables used are the producted quantity, the cultured area, the number of population and the budget allocated to the agriculture. This study shows that increasing the volume of agricultural production before 1960 consisted in maximizing the yield per hectare in order to avoid useless extensions of the cultured area on the one hand, whereas after 1960, this increase is function of the maximization of this area. On the other hand, before 1960, the improvement of the culture methods and the use of convenient agricultural materials were accompanied by an increase in the peasants income by attracting population to agricultural activity whereas after 1960, the population disinterest in this activity is very significant. The weak budgets allocated to the agriculture after 1960 by the government have not contributed significantly to the improvement of the food production.
