Diameter growth of Norway spruce and birch in mixed stand

The stand structure of ten sample plots is presented. Diameter growth patterns are presented. The growth of diameter declines with age and diameter. Multiple regression was used to demonstrate the dependence of increment on tree age and diameter. Whole increment core is used in analysis. In this case data are needed on the stand structure dynamics to predict the influence of stand level variables. Otherwise the study is restricted to few predicting variables as is the case in present work. Principles of simulation of stand growth are discussed. Nonlinear regression has to be applied in simulation model to obtain higher resolution and reliability of the model
