The effect of 20 years of regular liming and fertilization on soil properties
1996
Turbas, E. (Estonian Agricultural Univ., Tartu (Estonia))
Regular liming of a strongly acid low in humus loamy sand poor in plant food nutrients with half a norm of pulverized oil shale ashes decreased soil acidity in the upper layer of 40 cm thickness as well as the content of available P in the upper 40 cm thickness and that of available K in the depth of 30 to 70 cm. The content of mobile Ca increased in the upper 30 cm soil layer under the influence of liming as well as that of mobile Mg to the depth of 40 cm. Systematic application of NPK fertilizers which are of an acid character increased soil acidity in the upper soil layer of 30 cm thickness. Under the influence of NPK fertilizers the content of mobile P increased to the depth of 30 cm, that of mobile K to the depth of 60 cm whereas the content of mobile Mg decreased in the upper soil layer of 60 cm thickness
