Mistletoe (Viscum album L.) is a well-known parasitic plant that lives mostly on deciduous trees (poplar, locust tree, lime, horse-chestnut etc.). If it appears in high numbers, the epiphytic or hemi-parasitic mistletoe causes heavy damages. Its control is carried out in many ways (mechanical or chemical control). In earlier studies (Fischl 1978, 1980) it was established that the fungus Botryosphaerostroma visci (DC) Petrak had caused partial or total destruction of mistletoe plants. By studying the spread of this pathogen a new parasitic fungus (Plectophomella visci Moesz) was discovered that had caused leaf spots on mistletoe plants
