The transformation of ammonium nitrate was studied in a model pot experiment with soil samples taken from the ploughed layer of a meadow soil from Hosszuhat (Hungary), [pH(H2O) 6.0 and pH(KCl) 5.4, mineral N content 2.16, bound NH4 content 21.12; total N content 185.8 mg/100 g soil, 3.4 percent humus content and 82 percent sediment]. 15N-labelled 15NH4-15NO3 fertilizer was applied. NO3-N and exchangeable NH4-N contents of soils and the EUF-N quantities were determined in samples taken during incubation
