The drought- and frost-resistant perennial buffalo gourd (Cucurbita foetidissima HBK) could be considered in Hungary as perspective cultivated plant on the sandy soils of poor fertility. Its seeds with high protein (25-30 percent) and semisiccative oil (30-40 percent) content, resp. its root with high starch content make it suitable both food and feeding uses
