The large white butterfly is one of the most widely studied pests. However, the interdependence between its seasonal development and photoperiod in the conditions of Hungary needs further investigation. The following work brings valuable information on the influence of temperature and photoperiod on diapause. The author found that under 23 degrees C the photoperiod critical for the induction of diapause is around 13/11 or 14/10 LD
