English. The aim of this experiment was to find out the effectiveness of gibberellins and ascorbic acid on germination improvement of passion fruit seed. The experiment was conducted at the seed technology of National Seed Foundation, University of the Philippines at Los Banos from August 1993 to January 1994. The treatments were laid in a Factorial Completely Randomized Design, consisting of four factors and three replications. The result showed that the combination treatments of gibberellins soaked seed at 50 ppm for 48 hours and ascorbic acid soaked seed at 50 ppm for 48 hours promoted germination and seedling growth of scarified seeds, with percentage of germination, rate of germination, root length, shoot length, and shoot/root ratio at 76.0 percent, 6.24 percent, 2.79 cm, 8.13 cm, 3.53 and 72.67 percent, 6.59, 2.33 cm, 7.57 cm, and 4.19, respectively. The result is applicable and advantages to user due to easy applicability and assures the high percentage of seed germination and vigorious seedling

Penelitian dilaksanakan di Laboratorium Teknologi Benih Nasional, Universitas Filipina di Los Banos pada bulan Agustus 1993 sampai dengan Januari 1994. Penelitian menggunakan Rancangan Acak Kelompok yang disusun secara faktorial, terdiri atas empat faktor dan diulang tiga kali. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan GA3 dan asam askorbat, kadar 50 ppm dengan lama perendaman 48 jam meningkatkan perkecambahan dan pertumbuhan benih markisa yang telah diskarifikasi bagian mikropilnya, masing-masing dengan persentase perkecambahan, kecepatan perkecambahan, panjang akar, panjang tunas, dan nisbah panjang tunas/akar adalah 76,0 persen, 6,24, 2,79 cm, 8,13 cm, 3,53 dan 72,67 persen, 6,59, 2,33 cm, 7,57 cm, dan 4,19. Hasil penelitian ini dapat diterapkan dan menguntungkan pengguna karena mudah pelaksanaannya dan memberikan jaminan terhadap jumlah benih yang berkecambah dan mutu bibit yang dihasilkan
