Heritability and correlation of yield and some yield components in common bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.)
1992
Kusandriani, Y. | Permadi, A.H. (Balai Penelitian Hortikultura, Lembang (Indonesia))
Two generations (F3 and F4) originating from crosses between common bean varieties 'Lokal Garut'x'Hawkesburry Wonder', 'Lokal Garut'x'Rich Green', Lokal Garut'x'Flo' were used to study the heritability and correlation of yield and some yield components. The result of all characters study showed that the heritability estimates of all characters studied range from medium to high. However, due to the large variation in their values it is suggested that, in order to be more effective, selection should be done in further generations. Positive correlations were found between number of branches per plant and number of pods per plant as welll as between number of pods per plant and seed weight per plant
