Effect of triacontanol and number of internodes on growth of cutting of long pepper (Piper retrofractum Vahl.)

A study was conducted at the green house of Research Institute for Spice and Medicinal Crops Bogor in 1990, to find out the effect of the number of nodes and triacontanol plant regulation on the growth of long pepper cuttings. This experiment was designed in a completely randomized block design ranged in factorially with 3 replications. The factors were concentration of triacontanol (0 ppm, 0.50 ppm, 1.00 ppm, 1.5 ppm and the number of nodes (1 node, 2 nodes, and 3 nodes). The result showed that the application of triacontanol not significantly affected the growth of pepper cuttings. Cuttings with one node and two nodes showed better growth than the three nodes

Penelitian ini dilakukan di rumah kaca Balai Penelitian Tanaman Rempah dan Obat Bogor tahun 1990, dengan tujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh jumlah ruas dan zat pengatur tumbuh triakontanol terhadap pertumbuhan dan perkembangan setek tanaman cabe Jawa. Percobaan menggunakan rancangan acak kelompok yang disusun secara faktorial dengan 3 ulangan. Faktor pertama adalah konsentrasi triakontanol dengan 4 taraf yaitu tanpa triakontanol, triakontanol 0,5 ppm, triakontanol 1,00 ppm dan triakontanol 1,5 ppm, sedangkan faktor ke dua adalah jumlah ruas dengan 3 taraf: 1 ruas, 2 ruas dan 3 ruas. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan triakontanol tidak berpengaruh nyata dibanding kontrol. Setek 1 ruas dan 2 ruas memberikan hasil yang lebih baik dibandingkan setek 3 ruas
