[Adaptability of several new early and late yielding corn (Zea mays L.) in Tamanbogo, Lampung (Indonesia)]

Replicated field trials were conducted during 3 years in Tamanbogo, Lampung, to evaluate the adaptability of several new early and late maturing corn (Zea mays L.) varieties under Lampung environmental condition. Six common varieties yield data were combined and analyzed to compare the yield stability of early and late maturing varieties over different seasons. The results indicated that the early maturing varieties showed higher mean yield (ui), slightly more heterogeneous regression coefficients (bi) and more homogeneous deviations from regression (eij). Apparently significant differences in the yield stability were not only due to difference in the maturity groups but also due to difference in the variability. Among the varieties were rejected to be stable because of the significant differences in the regression coefficient (bi) from their average (b=1) and two of the late maturing varieties were rejected to be stable because of the significant deviations of regression from zero. The stable varieties in the early maturing varieties were Arjuna, ICS2GK x Arjuna, Penj Y (cl) x Arjuna and Bromo MS1 (LP), whereas in the late maturing varieties were Bog. DMR4-3YD, Bog.DMR4-3YD and SW1DMRSr9 x H-6.
