Embryo transfer in dairy cattle in Iraq, a preliminary trial.

Three groups of locally born Holstein Friesiens were selected for the embryo transfer trial with frozen (-196c) and fresh embryos. Of the 36 animals allocated 24 were parous and were implanted with frozen embryos and their pregnancy rate was 41.7. Whereas, one half of the heifers implanted with frozen embryos retained pregnancy of the 4 parous cows implanted with fresh embryons, one cow remained pregnant. Pregnancy rate was highest among heifers implanted with frozen embryos.
