Evalution of Shatt Al-Arab water for agricultural purposes

In this study the water quality of Shatt Al-Arab was conducted during high and low tides, three sampling stations were selected, they were Hartha, Maqual, and Tannoma. Chemical parameters determined were EC, pH, Mg, Ca, Na, Cl and Hco3 and checked against the US salinity laboratory and FAO water quality classification. The results showed that water of Shatt Al-Arab is classified as very high saline, i. e., very high sodium (C4S4) according to SAR values of the American salinity labaratories.
