Propagation of easter lily (Lilium longiflorum Thunb.) "White American" by scaly leaves [regeneration ability of inner and outer bulb scales]
1997
Qrunfleh, I.M.
Two experiments using Lilium longiflorum "White American" bulbs were carried out. The first experiment, aimed at studying the influence of two incubation periods (six and ten weeks) at various temperatures (5, 10, 15, 20, and 25 deg C) on bulblet formation in middle scales. The second experiment aimed at studying the effect of 1.2 and 3 ppm of NAA and IBA and a powder dip in Seradix No 1 (1 ppm) on bulblet formation in outer and inner scales. Results of the first experiment indicated that middle scales incubated at 5, 10, and 15 deg C for six or ten weeks, resulted in no bulblet formation. On the other hand, number and weight of bulblet/scale were considerably increased by incubation at 20 and 25 deg C for six or ten weeks. Results of the second experiment indicated that outer scales produced significantly higher average number and weight of bulblets/scale than did inner scales regardless of bioregulator type or concentration
