The role of tonometry in the diagnostics of eye diseases and the tonometric method are explained. As there are no data on objective indices of animals intraocular pressure, tonometric examination of dogs and cats affected by different ophthalmic diseases were carried out. Animals were examined by means of the A.Maklakov's recommended tonometer widely used in medicine. The design and operation of the tonometer are described. The results of the examination are discussed.
