Results of reforms in the higher education system in Latvia started in 1990 are discussed, the further tasks are set. The next stages of the reforms defined by the Law on Higher Education are as follows: arrangement of academic and professional studies, international recognition of study programs, integration of higher education and research, restructuring of higher educational institutions. The present system of studies in the LUA is analysed, its further reorganization is explained.
