[Maize seed quality related to genetic, physiological and environmental factors]

The effect of different combinations and opportunity of application of N, P and K was studied on vigor and biochemical composition of seeds produced by two maize inbred lines, which were contrasting in vigor: M-27 (Mich. 21-183) and M-28 (Mich. 21-181-14-1). Differences on proteins and carbohydrates content of seeds tested under cold, sand and lixiviation of solutes were found. However, no differences on physiological response of the seeds were found in vigor tests.

Se estudio el efecto de diferentes combinaciones y oportunidades de aplicacion de N, P, y K, sobre el vigor y la composicion bioquimica de las semillas producidas en dos lineas de maiz: M-27 (Mich. 21-183) y M-28 (Mich. 21-181-14-1), cuyo nivel de vigor es bajo y alto. Los tratamientos utilizados no repercutieron significativamente en las respuestas fisiologicas de las semillas en las pruebas de vigor (frio, arena y lixiviacion de solutos), pero si en sus contenidos de proteina y carbohidratos.
