Effect of ketrax and combantrin against Toxocara canis infection in dogs

A total of 210 dogs were examined for the presence of Toxocara canis infection. By faecal examination, Toxocariasis was confirmed in 99 dogs of which 69 showed heavy infection. The dogs were divided randomly into three groups A, B and C, each having 23 dogs. Dogs in group A and B were treated with Ketrax and Combantrin respectively. Group C was kept as control. The efficacy of the drugs was calculated on the basis of reduction in the number of ova discharged in faeces. The results showed that Ketrax was 100 percent effective whereas Combantrin showed 95 percent efficacy after single dose treatment.
