Induction of the development of unfertilized red beet ovules in vitro cultures

The paper describes the influence of genetic, thermal and chemical factors on the in vitro development of red beet ovules. The best conditions for their development were obtained on the N sub (6) medium (Chu 1975) supplemented with 0.5 mg/1IAA and 0.2 mg/1BA at 27 and 32 deg C. A very strong influence of the genotype of donor plants was also confirmed and varieties were found to have a higher ability to gynogenesis than F1 hybrids and inbred lines
