Weeds harmful to root crops in the Krakow Region

The weeds harmful to root crops were selected on the basis of 662 phytosociological records of 27 soil units. The weeds considered harmful were those which, in a given habitat, had the frequency of appearance not lower than 40% in analysed fields, and a coverage coefficient higher than 1. The total number of weed species harmful to root crops was 30. This number varied from 4 to 11 in individual habitats. Half of the species harmful to root crops were found in 5 to 21 soil units, whereas the remaining species were found in 1 to 4 studied habitats
