Effect of plants cultivated in monoculture and crop rotation on the content of organic phosphorus in lessive soil

The content of total organic phosphorus and its fractions in soil lessive during the vegetation period of plants (sugar beet, field pea, spring barley, winter wheat cultivated) for 20 years in crop rotation and monoculture was determined. Soil samples were taken from two depths (5-10 and 30-40 cm) in May, July and September. Higher content of organic phosphorus, lipid, nucleic acid and inositolic phosphorus fractions was observed in the soil samples from plots with crop rotation than in those from the monoculture. In the soil samples collected from the horizon 5-10 cm higher content of organic phosphorus and of that in separated fractions was noted. The soil samples gathered in May showed the highest content of organic phosphorus and of that in separated fractions whereas those gathered in July had the lowest one
