Many of the byproducts arising from the preparation of human food are suitable for human feeds. Many products used in animal feeding are changed by subjecting them to some form of mechanical and/ or chemical process. This often results in an alteration in the nutritive value resulting in increased efficiency of animal production. This, however, complicates the task of precisely naming these materials. This paper tries to class the feeds by physical and chemical characteristics and usage, and give the International feed description (feed name), International feed number and International feed classes.
