The paper presents results obtained b y researchers for production and use of municipal waste compost. Due to its good physical characteristics, the compost can be used on agricultural lands and horticultural substrate. Compost fertilising takes to an organic matter increase, nutrients and heavy metals (total forms and soluble in Na2EDTA) content in soil. Significant increase of tomato yield and maize was observed by applying high doses of compost (over 70 t/ha) or by using compost with mineral fertilizers. yield content in heavy metals was not significant under compost influence. All the results showed that the use of municipal waste compost is possible and it is recommended in order to improve the low productivity of soils.
