A problem for the Romanian researchers is to inventory the contaminated areas and to clearly specify the contamination type, the affected area, the contamination intensity and the affected environmental factors. The way of how to use the contaminated area is a forecast modality for the necessary measures needed to prevent environmental pollution and to ecologically rehabilitate these zones. The authors present an identification methodology, an inventory and characterization of the polluted areas.
