Changes in basic morphological characteristics of beech (angle and diameter of branches, branching and shape of crowns) in beechwoods of western Slovakia and their effect on the quantity and quality of production (mainly with trees of 1 and 2 tree class) were studied. These classes are the bearers of beechwood yield and they should produce high quality seed for the preservation of the original gene pool for the stands formed mostly by natural reproduction
