The effects of various concentrations of the plant growth regulator IBA (indole-3-butyric acid) on rooting of Magnolia x soulangiana SOUL.-BOD. microcuttings is dealt with. Statistically significant differences in the number and length of roots were found between the control and the rooting media containing 2.0, 3.0 and 4.0 mg l** (-1) of IBA. The correlation between the number of roots and length of the above-ground parts of regenerants is also significant. The suggested process of rooting of microcuttings can be applied in the propagation of some woody plants which root only with difficulty
