The occurrence of solid airborne emissions in dwarf pine stomatal apertures was observed by scanning electron microscopy. Needle samples were taken from the Furkotska dolina valley in The High Tatras (Slovak Republic). The presence of globular and irregularly-shaped particles in the needle stomata was confirmed. On the surface of some needles from damaged individuals an increased occurrence of fungi mycelium was recorded. Such damaged needles also had a lower content of wax structures in the stomatal apertures and their surroundings
