Up to the present some "phytogeographical" divisions of Slovakia have been made only on a floristic basis. The proposed vegetative regionalisation is based on ecological relations. The vegetation is comprehended as one of the landscape within the physico-geographical complex. Regional units based on potential natural vegetation and respecting prevailing forest communities accord (on the whole) with the geomorphological units of the Slovak Republic
