Protein quality, health and growth of piglets

Magic, D. (Univerzita Veterinarskeho Lekarstva, Kosice (Slovakia))
The key to optimal protein nutrition of pigs is knowledge of the ideal protein composition. The best criterion for quality of dietary protein determination is the rate of body protein accretion. This depends on the limits of the capacity of protein deposition in the body and on amino acids and energy saturation and their ratio. Further, it is the ratio of essential to nonessential amino acids and the ratio of respective amino acids to lysine. Most suitable expresion of amino acid content in the diet are the values of true ideal digestibility. As well as environment, optimal protein nutrition of pigs positively affects meat quality
