The causes of malignant tumours in free-living animals are generally the same as in human medicine. Besides rare dispositions a group of carcinogens quite certainly applies. Their spectrum is very probably similar to human carcinogens but it will not be entirely the same with regard to different ethological and sociological links and nutrition in the ecosystem. At present it would be advisable to observe the frequency of tumourous and tumour-like diseases as well as make their casuistic description in relation to the particular anthropogenic load on the ecosystem
