Traced are which elements have to be processed in animal feeds for mainly poultry and pig breeding. Because of the high costs of imported feeds, the alternatives of locally produced animal feeds are looked into. Discussed are the use of crops like grains, soya, cassava, sweet potatoes and sugar cane. From these crops mainly the protein percentage is studied. The use of fish meal, shrimp meal and leaf meal is discussed and a solution is given to the animal feed problems in Suriname
